Adelaide United midfielder Paul Reid was the first of three former Bantams in action as season five of the A-League kicked off on the weekend.
Reid was replaced in the 58th minute by Joe Costa as his side defeated Perth Glory 1-0 at Adelaide Oval on Friday 7 August 2009 in round 1.
Paul Henderson had an unhappy debut for new team North Queensland Fury, conceding three times as his team lost 3-2 at home to Sydney FC on Saturday 8 August 2009.
After trailing 2-0, North Queensland pulled level at Dairy Farmers Stadium in Townsville, only for Henderson to concede a penalty which was converted by John Aloisi.
Wellington Phoenix goalkeeper Mark Paston also conceded three as his side lost 3-2 at Newcastle Jets on Sunday 9 January 2009.
